Rise and Fall of the Maya
Les Mayas, des origines à la chute

The entire story of the great Mayan civilization from beginning to end told for the first time. In 2020, archeologists discovered thanks to LIDAR technology the largest and oldest site in Mayan territory to date, 1500 years older than other famous sites such as Tikal and Chichen Itza. This means that the first Mayans could be 3,000 years old, a real game changer for experts !

This allows us to immerse ourselves into how a first society emerge, what were the first Mayans like, how did they live, what did they believe in and how did they become this great and knowledgeable civilization admired by so many ? Why did, 2,000 years later, they abandon their cities ? Experts have many theories about how the civilization collapsed between 950 and 1500 AD. Global warming, deforestation, droughts, wars, mercury poisoning, Spanish invasion, etc. But today over 8 million people of Mayan descent live in Central America and their traditions and languages carry on, they never collapsed !
This archeological investigation brings back this ancient world to life by using very ambitious CGI.
